There is something about the words “Red Tent” that is drawing us women in. Ever since book The Red Tent brought those words into the common culture women have held a kinship with the idea of this tribal sisterhood. This is a place to find our Sister, our Mother, our Daughter, Aunt, Grandmother, and Cousin. This is a place to find ourselves reflected in other women. This is a place of being present with what is Woman.
Imagine preparing for an evening in the Red Tent Temple space. You might fall in the door from a hectic day, and be caught in the arms of your sisters. Or, you might bathe and anoint yourself in oils, dress carefully in something that feels good to wear…something red. You might prepare some special treat to share with your sisters. Perhaps you will bring some special tea, or chocolates, or some nice bread. You might even bring a poem that is meaningful to read to the group. The women in Red Tent are interested in what is going on in your heart.
When you arrive the space might be simple or extravagant. This will depend on the women you gather with. They may have candles, red tapestries, and artworks of and by women, pillows on the floor, soothing music…scents to call you in. Someone will look up and smile at you, there will be hugs and warm greetings as you enter the sacred space of women healing and holding each other. Women are healing through song, nurturing and caring for themselves and each other. We are healing by simply holding each woman Devine, by witnessing her wherever she is and honoring her there, in that very moment of herself.
If you are interested in Red Tent Temple you can find one or create one of your own!
Oh what a beautiful Solstice gathering!
After a short and thoughtful
gathering in the stillness we emerged to a most gentle winter night to
light the fires and invite the return of the sun. There was snow on the
ground, mist in the air and bonfires around the yard. Hot cider, music
and fire play rounded out this turn of the wheel.
It is cold and dark, yes, but the sun IS returning.
Excerpt from "A Winter Solstice Story" (copywrite)
It was then that the people got
the Great Teaching. They realized that they needed to Respect and Stay
Close to the Earth, to take care of the Earth. They also realized that
it is important not to go to sleep for too long a time. Most important,
they learned that if they want something, really want something, they
need to go out into the world to Sing, Dance and Pray it into being.
And it is So.
